Kung Fu original comes from the Shaolin monastery in China, and is one of the oldest martial and spiritual arts. |
The practice consists of 2 parts that work together as a whole. |
01. KUNG FU*Gong Fu 功夫 in its original meaning refers to any skill that has been acquired through dedication and hard practice.
It is an external martial art practice that helps your body become stronger. It includes gaining fitness, strength, flexibility, mobility, practicing traditional Shaolin forms (kata) and hand-foot techniques. Mastering the skill requires dedication, patience, energy and time.
The practice also includes Sanshou.*Sanshou 散手 (or Sanda) is known as Chinese boxing or Chinese kickboxing and is considered as an effective self-defense system.
It is a form of contact fighting, that was developed on the basis of traditional shaolin kung fu and modern fighting techniques. It combines boxing and kickboxing, includes rapid repetition of punches and kicks, wrestling, grappling, throwing, elbows and knees. |
02. QI GONG* Qi Gong 氣功, also called "meditation in motion", is a practice for nurturing and balancing life energy.
With Qi Gong, we take care of our internal balance of energies called "Qi". The practice consists of coordinated postures, movement and breathing techniques. Qi Gong is used for health, spirituality purposes and martial arts training.
The practice also includes Meditation. *Meditation 禅 combines with the "CHAN" philosophy of Buddhism, which gradually spread from China to the south of Vietnam as "Thiền" and to the north to Korea as "Seon" and lastly (in the 13th century) to Japan as the very well known " Zen" Buddhism.
With the sitting Meditation, we focus our attention on the breath. In silence, we observe our own thoughts, emotions, feelings and try to not get attached to them. Through gentle but penetrating practice, we can bring our mind and heart back to their natural state of balance. The purpose of meditation is not to create a belief system, but to provide guidance on how to directly understand things as they really are. |
